Privacy Policy for Background Quality Saver for YouTube

Background Quality Saver for YouTube reduces bandwidth usage by lowering video quality in inactive YouTube watch tabs while allowing audio playback to continue.

Information handled

The extension processes the following information locally in the user's browser:

• The current YouTube page URL, to determine whether the page is a supported YouTube watch page.
• Whether a supported YouTube tab is active or inactive.
• Extension preferences, including whether the extension is enabled, the selected background quality, and the selected switching behavior.

How information is used

This information is used only to:

• Lower video quality when a supported YouTube tab is inactive.
• Restore video quality when the tab becomes active.
• Remember the user's extension settings.

Storage

Extension preferences are stored using the Chrome storage API. The extension does not retain URLs or tab activity as browsing-history or activity logs.

Data transmission and sharing

The extension:

• Does not transmit user information to external servers.
• Does not sell or share user information with third parties.
• Does not use analytics or advertising services.
• Does not require an account or login.
• Does not use information for creditworthiness or lending purposes.

Remote code

All executable code is included in the installed extension package. The extension does not download or execute remotely hosted JavaScript or WebAssembly.

Data retention

Saved preferences remain in Chrome storage until the user changes them, clears extension data, or uninstalls the extension.
